Towards a Multicultural South Korean Society: Immigrant Integration in South Korea Burcu Mirkelam
The Education University of Hong Kong
Abstract
This paper looks into the potential of a multicultural South Korea and the progress of state-led multicultural policies focusing on the integration of high and low-skilled immigrants into South Korean society. My main research question is to what extent (high and low-skilled) immigrants have defined a multicultural South Korea and challenged the nationalist discourse. To answer this question, I will focus on the evolution of government policies from the 1990s until today and articulate the inclusion and exclusion mechanisms of the state toward immigrants. Although the policies initially had a limited sphere of influence, this has changed throughout the years as Korea adopted a more inclusive approach for instance adopting multiculturalism in school curriculum and incorporating international human rights norms in policymaking for the integration of minority communities living in South Korea. The findings of this research will help explain the intersectionality and complex layers in adopting multicultural policies for immigrant integration in South Korea. In other words, there are different value systems attached to certain multi-ethnics in South Korea when state-led policies, public opinion and immigrant experiences are explored. As multicultural policies took initiative in the late 1990s, due to the influx of migrants, this paper will look into the initiation of these policies until today in South Korea. Multiculturalism may have failed in Western societies, but the South Korean case demonstrates that the shift from ethnic nationalism to multiculturalism is possible.

Social Vision of Youth in Preserving Rimpu Cultural Practices Amidst Fashion Modernization in Dompu Indonesia Nuraeni, Abdul Wahid, Suparman Jayadi
Universitas Islam Negeri Mataram
Abstract
Analyzing Rimpu as a dress tradition among Dompu women and how is the dynamics of using Rimpu in the midst of modernization of fashion and what is the meaning of rimpu in the past and present in the people of Rasa Bou Village, Kec. Hu^u Regency Dompu. This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach. The method of collecting data in this study is by observation, interview and documentation. In addition, the author also uses Beourdeu^s theory of social practice to examine and analyze the meaning of the historical sociological context such as what is the background of Rimpu^s clothing for women in the village of Rasa Bou and how are the efforts of adolescents to preserve Rimpu cultural practices in the midst of modernization of fashion. These meanings include objective, expressive, and documentary meanings. The results of this study indicate that the Dompu people know the term Sanggentu, (rolling up the sarong to the chest) for women, Katente (rolling up the sarong to the waist) for men, and it is still used in the daily life of the Dompu people. Rimpu was introduced as a form of embodiment of Islamic teachings in covering the genitals for every Muslim woman. The Rimpu tradition was born from an encounter between Islamic religious teachings and the local culture of the local community according to their use. Rimpu is a culture that equates to Islamic teachings using clothing that covers the genitals as an identity that differentiates it from men and is moral so that the wider community accepts this culture well. The youth of Rasa Bou Village returned to preserving rimpu culture with various efforts, because this Rimpu culture has a very long historical background, which was born in the middle of the XVII century AD, after Islam entered the territory of the Bima kingdom

Applications and significant results of fractional calculus in the field of fluid mechanics Qasim Khan and Anthony Suen
Department of Mathematics and Information Technology, the Education University of Hong Kong, 10 Lo Ping Road, Tai Po, N.T, Hong Kong
Abstract
My research area is applied mathematics and working on solving different complex dynamical systems under various fractional derivative operators. The existence theory, large-time behavior, and exact solutions to specific systems of partial differential equations are my study^s major areas of interest. Non-linearity is an important term in each mathematical model that needs to be handled using sophisticated approaches. The Adomian polynomial approach provides the basic and simple idea of expressing the non-linear terms, while other mathematicians have used their own procedures to do the task. The D-J polynomial provides the updated recursive polynomial without the derivative term as given in the Adomian polynomial. Once the non-linearity in a given problem is simplified, different numerical and analytical techniques are used to obtain the integer and fractional solutions to the suggested problems. For this purpose, various definitions of fractional derivatives have been used to show the fractional nature of the derivatives in the mathematical models. The present study is found very useful while dealing with various phenomena in physics, fluids, engineering, and other subjects of applied sciences using the concept of fractional calculus. The obtained results are compared using different methodologies. The solution comparison will be displayed via graphs and tables.
