Synergicity of Sharia Financial Institutions and Sharia Economic Institutions in Optimizing Earning Zakat Potential M. Iqbal, Fazar Riski Ramadhanti, Nadya Az Zahra, Bilah Izzah
Raden Fatah State Islamic University of Palembang
Abstract
The country of Indonesia with a Muslim majority population has great potential in building prosperity with a policy of paying zakat. Based on PUSKAS BAZNAS data, the potential for zakat in Indonesia reaches IDR 327 trillion per year. However, the magnitude of this potential is not comparable to the collected zakat funds. The possibility that occurs is due to the ineffectiveness of standardized data collection by zakat management institutions, the unprofessionalism of amil in carrying out their duties due to the difficulty of measuring the economic level of mustahiq, and the amount of operational funds compared to industrial zakat funds. In addition, from the many zakat distribution programs that are run in Indonesia from Islamic economic institutions and other institutions, there are still many that are consumptive compared to productive ones. Whereas productive zakat can make mustahiq have sustainable income to meet the needs of life and overcome poverty problems. So there needs to be a solution so that zakat productive in Indonesia is more developed and advanced. Based on the above phenomenon, this study discusses Strengthening the Integration of Islamic Financial Institutions and Sharia Economic Institutions in Optimizing the Potential of Productive Zakat (Synergy Between Commercial Banks, Baznas, and DMI). This concept is one way to optimize the potential of productive zakat in Indonesia by involving Islamic financial institutions and Islamic economic institutions that can work together in making innovations for the development of productive zakat in Indonesia. Such as mapping (Mapping) carried out by mosques to find out data on muzzaki and mustahiq around mosques, coordination between Islamic banks together with BAZNAS to provide assistance and training for mustahiqs who run businesses, socialization of programs from Islamic banks that can be carried out by mosques to optimize zakat potential. around the mosque, and mapping mustahiq through banking products.

Analysis of Islamic Monetary Instruments and Islamic Bank Financing on Monetary Stability in Indonesia Lavlimatria Esya- Deden Misbahudin Muayyad
Faculty of Economics and Businnes, Trisakti University
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of Islamic monetary instruments and financing on monetary stability in Indonesia. This study uses the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), Granger Causality Test, Impulse Response Function (IRF), and Forecast Error Variance Decomposition (FEVD) by first conducting a stationarity test, cointegration test, optimum lag test, VAR stability test, and causality test. The data used in this study is monthly secondary data from the variable amount of money in circulation (M2), Bank Indonesia Sharia Certificates (SBIS), Sharia Interbank Money Market (PUAS), State Sharia Securities (SBSN), and Islamic Banking Financing for the period January 2011.1 to December 2021.12. The results of the VECM Model research show that in the long term the instrument variables of SBIS, PUAS, and SBSN have a significant and positive effect on the Money Supply (M2). Meanwhile, Financing (FIN) has no significant effect on Money Supply. In the short term, only PUAS instruments are significant. The implication is that the monetary authority in setting policies must pay attention to its impact on yields of sharia monetary instruments because if the yield is increased it will certainly increase the amount circulating in the community, which in turn will affect monetary stability.

Islamic Financial Institutions^ Preferences for Paying Zakat Fund Andriani (a)- Mairijani (a)- Maghfirah (a)- Manik Mutiara Sadewa (a)- Basyirah Ainun (a)
Banjarmasin State Polytechnic
Abstract
This research aims to observe the preferences of Islamic Financial Institutions (IFI) in Indonesia for paying zakat and infaq/sadaqah fund. This study mainly uses a quantitative study that applies the Likert scale on the questionnaire to analyze respondents^ preferences. Five variables were generated to ask IFI^s preferences for paying zakat and infaq/sadaqah fund. The findings indicate that IFIs mostly preferred electronic mail as promotional media for zakat organizations. In terms of payment channels, the use of a virtual account was preferred over the traditional method of fund collection. However, IFIs preferred face-to-face consultation to a virtual one. Surprisingly, the zakat deduction was not greatly considered as zakat benefit, while Baznas was the most preferred zakat organization to distribute IFI^s zakat fund. Lastly, IFIs^ preference for zakat report was to be presented based on the national standard with thorough audit process. This study suggested that in terms of fund collection, zakat organizations focus on digital technology, while keep offering direct consultation services. Generating audited financial reports based on national accounting standards is crucial for the zakat organization. Baznas as the most preferred organization needs to improve its performance to keep IFIs^ trust.

Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia
Abstract
Sharia mutual funds are one of the most popular types of investment instruments in the Islamic capital market today. Sharia mutual funds have a market share of 5% or equivalent to USD 178 billion with a total of 745 institutions. Saudi Arabia occupies the first position with total assets of sharia mutual funds of USD 53 billion, then Malaysia occupies the third position with total assets of sharia mutual funds of USD 38 billion. Meanwhile, Indonesia occupies the sixth position with total assets of Islamic mutual funds of USD 3 billion. The purpose of this study is to analyze the comparison of the performance of Islamic mutual funds in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Indonesia in 2018-2020. The method used in this research is comparative descriptive with quantitative approach. This study uses purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 69 sharia mutual fund products, including 15 money market sharia mutual fund products, 15 fixed income sharia mutual fund products, 21 stock sharia mutual fund products, and 18 mixed sharia mutual fund products. In addition, the performance of Islamic mutual funds is measured using the Sharpe ratio model. The results of the study show that Islamic money market and fixed income mutual funds in Indonesia are superior to Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, share and mixed sharia mutual funds in Saudi Arabia are superior to Indonesia and Malaysia. Thus the performance generated by sharia mutual funds can be one of the considerations for investors in choosing the type of sharia mutual funds by adjusting the economic conditions of a country. In addition, investors can choose Islamic mutual fund products managed by investment managers based on the level of return and risk they have.

2. School of Business and Governance, Ateneo de Davao University, Davao, Philippines
Abstract
Sustainably Responsible Investment (SRIs) and Shariah-compliant Investments are both gaining popularity worldwide. SRIs are ethics-based investments that aim to promote Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) without sacrificing investment returns (Yesuf and Aassouli, 2020). On the other hand, Shariah-compliant financial products are faith-based investments that follow the Islamic way of doing business, generally based on profit-sharing (Piad, 2021). While SRIs and Shariah-compliant products are different types of impact investing, they are deemed to share similar characteristics in taking ethical and moral aspects into consideration. Unfortunately, there is a scarce number of literature about these two concepts. In the Philippines, it was only in 2016 that certification of Shariah-compliant stocks started. The issue of interest that this paper aims to answer is, ^what are the available academic journals that discuss the relationship between Sustainably Responsible Investment (SRI) and stock performance of Shariah-compliant Companies?^ The method used in answering the research question is a critical review of the literature. Data are secondary in nature, and archival study has been employed. The author is expected to identify the research gap after performing a review of existing literature to contribute to the Philippine financial academic research pool. Lastly, the author will recommend the research design and approach based on recommendations of previous studies.

UNIVERSITY FUNDING THROUGH WAQF : LESSON FROM INDONESIA AND SELECTED COUNTRIES Yana Rohmana
Universitas Airlangga
Abstract
Islam has one of the best alternatives to answer the problem of the relatively high cost of education as an obstacle for someone to continue their studies and also higher education institutions themselves who have problems with education costs, namely through the development of waqf-based tertiary institutions. Waqf funds are able to finance higher education activities in a good and sustainable manner. Several well-known universities in various parts of the world have proven successful as waqf-based universities. This study aims to examine the literature on waqf-based higher education financing in Indonesia and selected countries, namely Egypt, Malaysia, Turkey, and Pakistan. Adopting the content analysis methodology, it was found that there are a large number of waqf-based universities that have successfully implemented waqf principles in their education system. However, they have their own unique history and mechanism in terms of legal framework, funding sources, allocation of use and management institutions. It is observed that waqf funds have succeeded in improving the education system in these countries and providing opportunities for people in need and assisting the government in financing education in their country. Therefore, it is recommended that higher education waqf institutions promote the use of waqf because it brings justice and benefits to society. In addition, it is necessary for managers and custodians of waqf assets who must work with all their hearts so that the education process can run well so as to produce quality graduates who are beneficial to the wider community. Government support is needed to ensure everything goes according to purpose. The development of waqf in universities can be intensified by effective fund management, strong legislation, good governance, marketing efforts and identification of the right waqf management model to be applied.

Faculty of Economics and Business Education, Islamic Economics and Finance Department, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia
Abstract
The development of IFIs products are growing rapidly. However, there have been many never-ending critiques intriguing about Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs) Products which mainly focus on limited instruments such as credit-based instruments, and replicating its conventional counterparts. This paper aims to critically review existing studies related to IFIs product and its instruments, the product development of IFIs and the future agenda for product development for IFIs. This study is built upon literature review of the existing literatures on IFIs, revisiting its objectives, its criticism and looking on Product Development Process of IFIs from previous studies. Considering IFIs product development, so far product development process on IFIs lie on the needs for being competitive thus imitating its conventional counterparts however on the other side there^s a need for developing the instruments without denying the fulfilment of Islamic law (maqasid al sharia) within the process. This study recommends that in adapting the growth of high technology, the change of environment and how Islamic Finance should adapt, the innovation of new products and combining existing products should be generated by combining the current market demands and the alignment with sharia rules. Therefore, this paper implies that there^s a need for comprehensive approach in formulating ideal product development process for IFIs.

Interaction Model of Macroeconomic and Microeconomic Variables on Growth Volatility of Various Types of Financing in Islamic Banks Irawati Junaeni (a), Dian Kurniawati (a), Ridarmeli (a), Muhammad Iqbal (a*)

* iqbal[at]perbanas.id
Abstract
Objective: Islamic banks in Indonesia have three types of financing, namely: equity-based financing, debt-based financing, and leasing-based financing. This study aims to find an effective formula for encouraging the growth of the three types of financing.
Methods: This study uses a quantitative approach with data analysis methods Error Correction Model (ECM) and Co-integration. Secondary data was selected as a sample from the fourth quarter of 2014 to the first quarter of 2022.
Result: Overall growth of Islamic bank financing is influenced by macroeconomic and microeconomic variables. In terms of macroeconomic variables, growth in equity-based financing is more influenced by economic growth than the interest rate and inflation. Meanwhile, the growth of debt-based financing and leasing-based financing is more influenced by interest rates than economic growth. In terms of microeconomic variables, the growth of third-party funds always affects the three types of financing, while non-performing financing and equivalent rate only affect the growth of equity-based financing.
Conclusions and suggestions: Macroeconomic variables such as economic growth and interest rate can be used as indicators in controlling the growth of the three types of Islamic bank financing, while microeconomic variables such as the growth of third-party funds are the determinants in encouraging the growth of the three types of financing, in addition to non-performing financing and the equivalent rate. It is recommended that Islamic banks focus more on raising third-party funds to encourage the growth of their financing, because the market share of Islamic banks is still small, which allows for the large potential for raising funds that have not been explored.

Abstract
Although green Sukuk (GS) as a sustainability enabler has started to emerge globally, a limited amount of research has focused on understanding its perspectives and potential. Accordingly, this research aims to explore the economic, social, and financial perspectives of GS by conceptualizing the effects of the issuance of green Sukuk (IGS) on economic growth (EG), social development (SD), and financial performance (FP). The fundamentals of the resource-based view (RBV) theory and institutional theory are employed to develop the theoretical underpinnings of this research. The panel data for IGS, EG, SD, and FP indicators between 2018-2021 was collected from Indonesia and was analyzed using the generalized method of movements (GMM) regression technique. The results indicate that IGS positively interacts with all three indicators (EG, SD, and FP). Further analysis reveals that IGS has a moderately positive effect on EG, a weak positive effect on SD, and a significant positive effect on FP. Our research findings contribute to developing an integrated business landscape covering major domains of environmental sustainability, socioeconomic development, and financial performance under the GS theme.

Abstract
The dynamic price of fossil fuel in many developing countries include Indonesia deal with political instability especially when releasing the subsidy that means higher fuel price. Many study showed the negative impact of higher fuel price. In another way of thinking, the preparation to release non only subsidy but also to release the dependece to fuel is important thing. As the second or third largest fuel consumption, transport sector must be given attention in alleviating fossil fuel dependence. Sustainable transport is the promising one and practiced in many megapolitan cities in advanced countries in the world, couple years ago. Jakarta belong to one megapolitan city in the world start practiced it in 2018 until now. Use Benefit Cost Analysis, I found this project is costly in the short term but beneficial for the long term. For sustainability reason It is quite challenging to finance this program so it needs support from national government and participation from private and society through waqf or sukuk.

Abstract
The increasing awareness of Muslim consumers to meet the needs of a halal lifestyle has led to an increase in the purchasing power of halal products. The halal value chain is a management standard that must be applied to every halal industry in the world to meet the halal standard of a product. This study aims to determine the purchase intention of Indonesian consumers towards halal detergent mediated by attitude variables. In this study, a quantitative approach was used with the help of a statistical tool, namely Smart PLS. There are 150 respondents according to the criteria used as samples in this study. The measurement model is used to test the validity and reliability, while the structural model is used to test causality (testing hypotheses with predictive models). The results of hypothesis testing indicate that attitudes can mediate subjective norms and halal certification variables on purchase intentions. However, the religiosity variable is not significant to purchase intention directly or indirectly. Halal certification variable is not significant to purchase intention. However, the subjective norm variable and the attitude variable have a significant effect on purchase intention.

Decision to Purchase Umrah Travel Services: Analysis of Celebrity Endorsement and Islamic Services Quality Mediating by Trust Rida Rosida, Abdullah Syaddad, Hilda Monoarfa
Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia
Abstract
This research is based on the increase in the Muslim middle class, which can be used as a business opportunity for umrah travelers. However, efforts are needed to improve service quality because of the phenomenon of the many cases of umrah travel fraud. This study aimed to analyze the influence of celebrity endorsement and the quality of Islamic services on purchasing decisions for Umrah travel services with trust mediation. The research method used is causality with a quantitative approach. The analysis tool used is Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The subjects of this study were Umrah pilgrims who had carried out Umrah through travel using celebrity endorsement with a total sample of 100 respondents. The results showed that the variable Islamic service quality was in the high category, the variable trust was in the middle category, and the celebrity endorsement variable was in a low category. Islamic service quality variables positively affect purchasing decisions, while the celebrity endorsement variable has no positive effect on purchasing decisions. The trust variable can mediate the quality of Islamic service on purchasing decisions, but it cannot mediate the celebrity endorsement variable on the decision to purchase Umrah travel services. Thus, the excellent quality of Islamic services from Umrah travel will affect the trust of pilgrims and increase the purchase of Umrah travel services.

The Effects of Food Waste in Islamic Countries Halal Food Industry on SDGs and Maslahah. Ahmad Suhail Alhazimi
Islamic Economic Department, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga
Jl.Airlangga number 4-6, Surabaya
email: ahmadalhazimi[at]gmail.com
Abstract
Purposes: The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of israf consumer behavior which is represented by the amount of food waste on sustainable development goals and maslahah while the increasing halal food industry is happening in OIC countries.
Methods: This research is a quantitative study that applies a regression model with food waste as an independent variable and co2 emissions, GDP per capita growth, and the prevalence of undernourishment as dependent variables. The panel data set used consists of a time series from 2011-2020 and cross-sectional data are taken from 57 countries.
Results: The increasing halal industry sector tends to have problems like the increase in food waste. The theory of consumer behavior states that the utility will decrease after the need for food is fulfilled. Israf consumption or overconsumption behavior produces food waste. Israf behavior is prohibited in Islam, QS. Al-a^raf (7):31. The result shows that the increase of food waste influences many SDGs levels and maslahah in OIC countries. Food waste has an impact on the climate which showed by the increase in CO2 emissions, the increasing prevalence of undernourishment in a country, and economic loss which showed by the market value of food products.
Suggestion: The amount of food waste should be controlled first by our behavior, like only eating when hungry and stopping before full like the prophet Muhammad SAW suggested. Reducing israf behavior toward food consumption is an act to gain maslahah and SDGs. Besides that, the government of OIC countries should be concerned about this problem by innovating technology systems to control food waste, such as advanced foodbank or blockchain food chain supply, and etc.
