RESEARCH TRENDS OF HALAL TOURISM : A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS

Abstract

ABSTRACT
Purposes: To examine the studies published in the international literature at Scopus on halal tourism between 2010 and 2021 in terms of bibliometric characteristics and to reveal the trends and impact of current publications on halal tourism trends, a major player in the study of halal tourism trends, the most influential articles on trends Halal tourism and research trends in the future
Methods: The study used data from Scopus in 2010-2021 with the topic of halal tourism and obtained 122 data publications. This study uses bibliometric analysis with biblioshiny analysis tools.
Results: There is a trend of halal tourism that has an impact on increasing the contribution of writers which annually increases by 39.1% and the largest number of publications will occur in 2021 as many as 39 publications. The main players in the halal tourism trend are Battour M. and the main countries in this field are Indonesia and Malaysia. the most influential article on halal tourism was written by Battour & Ismail (2016) with the title ^Halal tourism: Concepts, practices, challenges, and future^. In addition, this study also reveals the trend of halal tourism research
Conclusion and suggestion: The existence of a halal tourism trend will have an impact on increasing the author^s contribution which annually increases by 39.1%. Halal travel marketers can concentrate on identifying the main motivations of halal tourists and how market segments create opportunities to offer affordable unique experiences. Halal tourism marketers can also take advantage of technologies such as artificial intelligence.
