Abstract

The Mahakam River (approximately 920 km long) is the largest river that divides the Province of East Kalimantan. The river flows mostly across the West Kutai Regency area, with a large fishery resource potential. This study aims to estimate the fish biomass in the river and its surrounding waters, which was carried out in May 2024, using the acoustic method. Based on the study^s results, the potential of fish resources in the river body area was estimated at 170 tons, while fish resources in the riverbank area were 123.76 tons (Muara Pahu District) and 53.04 tons (Penyinggahan District). The potential of fishery resources in the body of Jempang Lake (Jempang District) was around 50 tons, while in the lakeside area, it was 225 tons
