Abstract
This research aims to enhance students^ understanding of Aceh^s natural resources by developing an engaging learning medium using web GIS technology. Traditional methods, such as PowerPoint presentations, often fall short in providing a deep understanding of complex concepts. By integrating specific examples from Aceh into the web GIS platform, students can visually explore the distribution of natural resources, making the learning experience more concrete and relatable. The study follows a Research and Development (RnD) approach, utilizing a 4D model: (1) Define: Conducting a needs analysis to identify gaps in current learning materials. (2) Design: Creating a web GIS framework based on the analysis to present Aceh^s natural resources effectively. (3) Develop: This involves three key steps: (a) Developing the web GIS- (b) Validating the material with experts in both content and media and (c) Testing and revising the media at SMA Negeri 2 Patra Nusa Manyak Payed.
and (4) Disseminate: Distributing the finalized product to geography teachers and high school students online. Key findings indicate: 1) The need for regular updates to the information presented in the media. 2) The effectiveness of the media in aiding teachers^ explanations of Aceh^s natural resources. 3) The flexibility of media usage, with a preference for online access to leverage more comprehensive information. Overall, this project emphasizes the importance of using advanced technology in education to facilitate a better understanding of local natural resources among students.
