Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of enhancing elementary school students^ learning motivation, particularly in the context of disaster education. One approach taken is the development of virtual reality (VR)-based learning media, which has been validated by experts. The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of VR-based disaster education media on the learning motivation of elementary school students. The research employs a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. A total of 100 elementary school students participated in the study, divided into two groups: the experimental group, which used VR media, and the control group, which used traditional learning methods. Data analysis using the independent sample t-test revealed a significance value of 0.000, which is below the threshold of 0.05. This finding indicates a significant difference in learning motivation between students using VR-based media and those using conventional teaching methods. Additionally, the average learning motivation of students utilizing VR-based disaster education media was higher than that of students learning through traditional methods. These findings suggest that VR-based learning media is effective in boosting elementary students^ motivation to learn. The results of this study can serve as a reference for developing innovative educational media aimed at improving both motivation and disaster awareness among elementary school students.
