Abstract

The situation analysis conducted together with Sukagalih Special School (SLB) revealed that the need for information regarding dental and oral health is quite high. The problems currently faced by partners related to dental and oral health are the condition of children with special needs who require information that is easy to accept, knowing the health condition of students through examinations, direct demonstrations regarding efforts to improve dental and oral health, and the provision of interactive media in the form of videos on how to maintain dental and oral health. Based on these problems, the solutions and output targets that will be carried out in efforts to improve dental and oral health include examinations, counseling, and demonstrations on how to maintain dental and oral health, as well as the provision of supporting media needed in the form of interactive video media on dental and oral hygiene. The methods that will be used vary from providing interactive materials, demonstrations, showing videos, and practice. At the end of this activity, it is expected that students will be more interested and know how to improve their dental and oral health by watching videos regularly. This community service program generally went smoothly, receiving positive responses from students, parents of students and teachers. The results of the dental and oral health examination obtained data that most students had caries, had plaque, had calculus and had gingivitis. During the activity of providing counseling materials, students followed with good concentration, as evidenced by the question session, almost all students scrambled to answer questions. During the demonstration and implementation of how to brush teeth, all students were able to follow along well. There needs to be socialization and promotion regarding the existence of this PKM program beforehand to the parents of students, so that parents can condition their children so that they are not afraid to come to have their dental and oral health checked.
