Abstract
Landslide occurs due to the displacement of slope-forming material in the form of rock, debris, soil, or mixed materials that move down or out of the slope. To find out the characteristics of the potential for landslide, testing soil is carried out, that is one of testing soil physical properties which consists of water content, sieve analysis, bulk density, specific gravity, and Atterberg limit. This research uses an experimental method which is done in the laboratory, that it cames from soil that has occurred landslide which is taken from 4 (four) sub-districts in Sibolga, namely (1) sub-district in South Sibolga, in the area of Aek Parambunan, (2) sub-district in Silbolga town, in the area of pancuran gerobak, (3) sub-district in North Sibolga, in the area of Hutabarangan, and (4) sub-district in Sibolga Sambas, in the area of pancuran Dewa. The results that want to be achieved in this research are data on the characteristics of the soil physical properties which will be analyzed for soil sliding. so that the results of this test are expected to assist in a construction work and it can determine the appropriate methods and appropriate actions which are related to the potential for landslide hazards
