Abstract

The research aimed at analyzing the students^ reception of Minangkabau-language content on social media, focusing on its relationship with cultural identity and digital literacy at Polytechnic ATI Padang. A qualitative method with descriptive approach was applied. The samples were 10% of 1510 total students or 151 students. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, using data collected through questionnaires and interviews with students as digital audiences. The findings showed that Minangkabau-language content plays an important role in strengthening cultural identity, and local pride. Furthermore, it contributed to digital literacy by encouraging critical understanding, and selective information consumption. However, challenges such as language comprehension differences and the dominance of informal slang in digital communication also affected students^ reception of such contents. In conclusion, this content helped strengthen cultural identity, local pride, and supports digital literacy. Nevertheless, differences in language understanding and the use of informal slang could affect how students understand the content.
