Abstract
Innovation in the public sector contributes to the quality of public services and competitive advantage. The innovative work behavior of employees is a crucial source of innovation for organizations, and sustainable innovation is primarily due to the innovative behavior of employees. However, research on innovative work behavior in the public sector in Indonesia is still limited. This study aims to develop prepositions about innovative work behavior in the public sector with a locus on the BPS-Statistics Indonesia through a review approach. Findings from previous research integrated with empirical facts and framed within the Job-Demand Resources (JD-R) framework are used to support this research. The results of the study provide recommendations for promoting three variables affecting innovative work behavior in the public sector. Workload and supervisor support variables, directly or mediated by work engagement variable, are expected to influence innovative work behavior in BPS-Statistics Indonesia, one of the public sectors in Indonesia.
