Abstract
A case study related to critical land management on the slopes of Mount Merapi Sleman DIY has been conducted. The purpose of this study is to formulate recommendations that can be applied in critical land management engineering in the region. The method used in this study is literature research, which is a research that examines or critically questions the information, ideas or results contained in scientific literature and formulates theoretical and methodological contributions to a particular topic. This study uses descriptive analysis in building a framework. The literature used is articles published on Google, Google Scholar and Research Gate. This study concluded several recommendations, namely (1) Development of agroforestry as the first step in handling critical land on the slopes of Mount Merapi, and (2) Development of sustainable ecotourism to create new jobs for people in rural areas on the slopes of Merapi.
