Abstract

Coral reefs are one of the coastal ecosystems that have high productivity. Coral reefs are ecosystems that are highly vulnerable to changes caused by temperature, humans, pH and salinity. The condition of coral reefs scattered in the coastal areas of Indonesia is currently in an alarming condition, so an efficient, effective and accurate data collection is needed. One technology that can be used is the use of remote sensing data. Mapping using remote sensing data can be done with Landsat 8 OLI image data. This study aims to map the abundance and changes in the distribution of coral reefs in Simeulue District. The results of this study include the distribution of coral reefs in Simeulue Regency, changes in the distribution of coral reefs, and the factors that cause changes in distribution.
