CAN EDUCATORS FACE THE CHALLENGES OF VUCA IN THE 21ST CENTURY AND IMPROVE THEIR PERFORMANCE WITH THE APPLICATION OF TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP?

Abstract

Technological developments and changing times continue to take place so quickly that sometimes convenience but on the one hand destroys those who are unable to adapt. The era has entered the 21st century with various challenges and challenges that need to be faced. One of the challenges that emerged in this Society era was VUCA. The challenge is the change in the situation that is so fast, complex with various pressures and no clear direction. To overcome today^s problems, a leader with the right leadership style is needed. The leadership style studied in this study is transformational leadership. The purpose of this research is to find out whether transformational leadership can improve the competence of educators to have good performance. In addition, through transformational leadership, it is hoped that educators will be able to have the strength and ability to adapt in the 21st Century in facing the challenges of VUCA. This study used a non-interactive qualitative approach. Data is collected from documents, writings, or previous research. The data that has been collected is studied, analyzed, and synthesized to provide an interpretation of the problem under study. The results of this study found that leadership transformation had a good impact on educators. Educators become more professional because they are motivated and supported by transformational leaders. In addition, educators are also able to face the challenges of VUCA because through transformational leadership educators are driven by ideal influences so that they learn to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances.
