Abstract
Abstract: This article aims to explain the role of the principal^s transformational leadership in developing an approach to the study of Papuan culture and modernization in the era of Society 5.0. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research approach to gain a comprehensive understanding of the observed phenomenon. This research involved several principals in the Papua region who have implemented the Papuan cultural studies and modernization approach in their leadership practices. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and analysis of related documents. Data analysis was conducted using an inductive approach to identify key themes that emerged from the data. The results of this study show that the transformational leadership of school principals has an important role in developing an approach to the study of Papuan culture and modernization in the era of Society 5.0. Principals who apply transformational leadership are able to create an inclusive environment, support collaboration among stakeholders and strengthen community involvement in educational development. In addition, this research also shows that the Papuan cultural studies approach can provide significant benefits in increasing cultural awareness, respecting diversity and promoting social justice in schools. On the other hand, modernization is also an important aspect in facing the challenges of the Society 5.0 era, with the proper use of technology can improve efficiency and effectiveness in the learning process. This article provides an in-depth understanding of the role of the principal^s transformational leadership in developing an approach to the study of Papuan culture and modernization in the Society 5.0 era. The results of this study can serve as a basis for school principals, policy makers, and other educational practitioners to understand the importance of integrating local culture with technological advances in the development of sustainable education in a changing era.
