Abstract

Scientific literacy ability is one of the main needs of students in the 21st century. Scientific literacy has the potential to be developed and nurtured from an early age because science is very closely related to children^s lives. In Indonesia, learning practices, especially science learning, are still more focused on academic abilities, with classical learning models and experimental methods, as well as the use of student worksheets as a measuring tool to determine students^ academic abilities. This does not provide sufficient space for children to explore their environment.
This paper is a part of the thesis, using qualitative methods to collect relevant data or sources, derived from journals, as well as observations of PAUD science learning.
The applied science learning model can be a solution to improving children^s literacy skills. This learning model is part of a group of social learning models that includes role-playing activities. One models that can be used as a reference for is the scientific playworld model. This model engages the teacher in children^s play and propose problem scenarios (such as game inquiry) as part of constructing the game^s narrative. The Narratives used in learning can help children develop their thinking skills through imaginative exploratory play activities. The narration used can also vary and one of them is fables which are widely found in various regions in Indonesia. The results obtained from the content observation show that the teacher^s dominance is more visible because of the instructions that are continuously given to children, with the intention that children understand their roles and benefit from playing these roles
