Abstract
A futuristic, quality, resilient, and sustainable education in the age of society 5.0 relies on digital technology. This article aims to describe, explore, and assure stakeholders that digital-based education transformation is necessary in the social context of society 5.0. It is a qualitative study with secondary data collected through studies of relevant online literature and news. The finding suggested that the integration of technology into education system is fundamental, even precondition for conceiving futuristic, quality, and sustainable education, which accommodates online learning, virtual-classrooms, e-books, game-based learning, webinars, and use of AR and VR. The urgency of the transformation is grounded into three senses: a) society 5.0, a super-smart society with collaboration between humans and technology, such as AI, IoT, big data, and robotics, that promotes inclusivity, resilience, and sustainability- b) digital generations, technology is a part of their life. They are multitasking with broad access to information, high technological skills, involvement in social media, interactive learning, and creativity in self-expression- c) uncertainty, future might encounter global disruptions, such as pandemics, climate change, natural disasters, and ecological disturbances. The three reasons imply the necessity to develop an education system that is adaptive, innovative, and responsive to the increasingly complex demands of society. Therefore, collaboration among relevant stakeholders is reasonably demanded to realize a successful educational transformation.
