Abstract

Merdeka Curriculum (The Independent Curriculum) is a new policy established by the Ministry of Education and Culture. This curriculum is centered on the self-development of students in accordance with the character and potential of each. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SDN Menteng 02 and SDN Menteng 03, Central Jakarta. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The results of this study are that the school welcomes the Merdeka Curriculum because it is in favor of children. Principals and teachers strive for the best starting from the preparation of the curriculum, teaching modules, implementing the learning process, to evaluating student competence. In the Merdeka Curriculum there is also character education based on Pancasila values. However, the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum is considered too hasty and not mature enough in its preparation. The lack of socialization and training as well as the incompatibility of textbooks with child development makes the Merdeka Curriculum to be reviewed.
