DEVELOPING TEACHER QUALITY TO IMPROVE THE NATIONAL STANDARD OF EDUCATION IN INDONESIA

Abstract

This article discusses the development of teacher quality as an effort to improve national standards of education in Indonesia. The focus of this research is on the development of professional knowledge, professional practice, and professional attributes of teachers. The method used through a descriptive qualitative approach involving the use of observation and interview methods as data collection techniques as well as the practical experience of a teacher at SMAIT Nurul Fikri Depok City. The results of the study explain that professional knowledge development, teachers need to continuously improve their knowledge through diverse sources such as books, journals, seminars, and training. Practice professional development involves changes in teachers teaching practices to meet national education standards. Attribute professional development involves developing skills and personal characteristics that support education quality. The impact of teacher quality development is seen in improved student learning, student and parent satisfaction, better collaboration between colleagues, and recognition from the institution and community. These contributions help improve national education standards. This research shows that teacher quality development is a crucial step in improving national education standards in Indonesia. Teachers need to continuously develop their knowledge, teaching practices and professional attributes to deliver quality education and achieve national education goals. Therefore, the implications will bring significant positive impacts for students, educational institutions and society as a whole.
