21st Century Principal Leadership: Strategic or entitled? Universitas Negeri Jakarta Abstract 21st-century leadership is the proactive leadership that always gain new insights, having confidence, high capacity and political wisdom. This purpose of this research is to find out about the leadership of school principals as leaders, the leadership strategies that are applied, skills possessed in carrying out their responsibilities as educator, manager, supervisor, leader, innovator in the school environment. This research is qualitative research using analysis content method. Data collection techniques in this study used interviews with two private school principals from different unit level of primary and secondary school, then analyze the data as data reduction, data presentation and the last make conclusions based on the result and discussion that have been made before. The results of this study showed that the principals succeeded in applying their leadership such as planning school program based on vision and mission, supervising of learning process by teachers, evaluating school programs, used technology and social media to support and promote school program, collaboration with government (public health center, mobile library) and private institution. Implementing having School Information System (SIS). Principal also has an annual program such as reflective program in the end of semester. However, school principals still need to improve their abilities in this era especially about technology, expand collaboration with new community, improve new skills and create development team for school program, and continue to find out many things for school progress.
