This study aims to find out (1) see the need for explanatory text teaching materials using the Writing Workshop model, (2) validation of explanatory text teaching materials using the Writing Workshop model by experts, (3) test results of explanatory text teaching materials using the Writing Workshop model in class XI students of SMK Bina Guna Tanah Jawa. The test subjects consisted of material experts, design experts, Indonesian language study teachers, class XI students of SMK Bina Guna Tanah Jawa. The results of this study indicate that (1) the results of the analysis of the needs of teaching materials show that 70.58% really need the explanatory text learning module material using the Writing Workshop model, (2) material expert validation which includes content feasibility 85.11% in the very good category, presentation feasibility 86.11% in the very good category, language feasibility 86.11% in the very good category and using the Writing Workshop model 85% in the very good category, design expert validation with an average of 90% in the very good category, (3) results individual trials with an average of 82.22% in the very good category, the results of small group trials with an average of 86.11% in the very good category, the results of limited group trials with an average of 89.12% in the very good category. Based on the analysis, the average score of students who used the Writing Workshop module was higher with a total of 2462 with an average score of 76.93 compared to the average score of students before using teaching materials in the form of a module which totaled 2032 with an average of 63.50. Thus the teaching material for the explanatory text learning module using the Writing Workshop model is appropriate and effective for use as a learning resource. The explanatory text learning module using the Writing Workshop model developed will make a practical contribution to classroom learning. This module can also help Indonesian language study teachers broaden the teacher^s experience by providing students with new information to develop students^ knowledge of explanatory texts. This module should also be able to assist teachers in developing modules for other Indonesian materials.
