Abstract

This study aims to describe 1) the validity, practicality and effectiveness of learning tools based on problem-based learning models with the help of book creators to improve students^ mathematical problem-solving skills and independent learning- 2) increasing the ability to solve mathematical problems and the independence of student learning by using learning tools based on problem-based learning models with the help of book creators. This study uses the ADDIE development model which consists of 5 stages, namely 1) analysis, 2) design, 3) development 4) implementation 5) evaluation. The subjects in this study were students of class X at SMKS YWKA in Medan for the 2022/2023 academic year. The results of the study show that 1) The problem-based learning model-based learning tool with the help of a book creator to improve problem-solving skills and self-reliance that has been developed meets valid, practical and effective criteria- 2) Improvement of problem-solving skills using problem-based learning model-based learning tools with the help of book creators that have been developed seen from the N-gain value in trial I of 0.42 (moderate) increasing to 0.59 (moderate) in trial II and increasing the independence of learning using learning tools based on problem-based learning models with the help of book creators that have been developed seen from the N-gain value in trial I of 0.39 (moderate) increasing to 0.55 (moderate) in trial II Furthermore, it is suggested that teachers can use a mathematics learning tool based on the Problem Based Learning learning model with the help of the Book Creator as a learning alternative to improve problem solving skills and independent learning.
