TRANSMISSION OF THE INHERITANCE OF ONANG-ONANG TRADITIONAL ART IN THE LUBUKRAYA GROUP IN PADANGSIDIMPUAN CITY Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Medan Abstract This traditional art still exists in the traditional ceremony of the people of Padangsidempuan City. The traditional art performed by the Lubukraya group is a traditional art that combines music and dance, singing, and so on. Music played with traditional instruments such as gondang, flute, and ogung. Onong-onang is not only the singing at the big customary wedding (thank you), but also serves as a means of communication, entertainment, or other functions. Transmission Inheritance of traditional arts aims to introduce values, norms, and customs to an individual to create an orderly, peaceful, and harmonious condition in society. Promotion of Culture is an action taken against objects of cultural advancement, namely inventory, and security. This paper examines what kind of inheritance system is used by the Lubukraya group in passing this art on to the next generation. This paper uses a qualitative method that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people and observed behavior so that researchers will create a complex picture, examine words, and a report filled in from informants^ views.
