Abstract

This study aims to produce macromedia flash as a media in learning mathematics based on discovery learning model to improve students^ metacognition ability that meet validity, practicality and effectiveness. The development model used in this research is ADDIE with 5 stages- Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subject in this study were students of class X MIPA SMA N 5 Medan consisting of 30 students. The instruments used were validation sheet, students questionnarie, observation sheet and instrument metacognition ability test on two-variable inequality system material. The results showed that the developed macromedia flash met the validity, practicality and effectiveness of the media and was able to improve students^ metacognition abilities. This can be seen from the implementation of learning in the good category, student activity in the good category, students^ metacognition responses in the positive category, the completeness of students^ metacognition learning outcomes classically achieved. Students^ metacognitive abilities show better results in terms of awareness of planning, monitoring, and evaluating problem-solving processes during and after based on the discovery leaning model.
