Abstract
The food crisis that has occurred in several countries is a serious warning for Indonesia to create food security independently. The large number of unproductive vacant lands in Indonesia is a problem as well as an opportunity to create new businesses to support food security. Islam as a perfect religion has arranged everything for the benefit of the people, including land use. In Islam, land must be used productively and sustainably so that it is not neglected. This study aims to analyze the impact of empowerment unproductive vacant land as the creation of new businesses in agriculture and animal husbandry to strengthen of food security. This method of this study uses a qualitative descriptive method with literature review, observation to obtain research validation in the field. The results show that the use of unproductive vacant land that is converted into productive land in the food supply business has business potential to be developed because it has added value to maximize results, both in the fields of food, finance, and job creation. therefore the empowerment of unproductive vacant land has benefits and potential for the creation of new businesses that support food security. It is hoped that the role of the use of unproductive vacant land is important to be developed and designed in a sustainable manner to become an integrated agricultural and livestock business model in supporting food security programs in Indonesia and can absorb labor.
