Abstract

The aims of this research to find out: (1) the relationship between critical thinking ability and learning achievement- (2) the relationship between attitudes towards chemistry with learning achievement- and (3) the relationship between critical thinking ability and attitudes towards chemistry with cross the interests chemistry learning achievement on stoichiometric subject matter at class of X SMA Negeri in Surakarta. This was a quantitative research with a correlational approach. The population were students of class X IPS at SMA Negeri in Surakarta in the academic year of 2020/2021. The sample totaling 143 students, it was selected by using a multistage random sampling. Research data is available through questionnaires and multiple choice questions. The data analysis technique used correlation analysis and multiple regression. The results showed that: (1) a positive and significant relationship between critical thinking skills and learning achievement that could be proved by the correlation coefficient value of 0.945- (2) a positive and significant relationship between attitudes towards chemistry and learning achievement that could be proved by the correlation coefficient value of 0.910- (3) a positive and significant relationship between critical thinking skills and attitudes towards chemistry with cross-interest chemistry learning achievement on stoichiometric subject matter that could be proved by the correlation coefficient value of 0.947. Regression test result obtained the equation: Y = -4.634 + 0.907 X1 + 0.207 X2 and the coefficient of determination was 0.897.

Keywords: critical thingking, attitude toward chemistry, cross the interests chemistry learning achievement
